Simon Barker, CTO and co-founder at innovative home heating solution maker Radfan (also a columnist for EE Times), will help kick off this year’s Hardware Startup Engineering Summit at EE Live! 2014 by co-hosting the two-day program’s opening session.
EE Live! 2014 returns this March 31 – April 3 to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, serving as the premier electronics conference and expo for design engineers from all over the world. Its Hardware Startup Engineering Summit is one of several distinct programs featured at the conference — this particular program is targeted at engineers who want to create a new market, disrupt an existing one, or learn about the agile product development strategies employed by successful hardware startups.
At Radfan, Barker has led the British company’s efforts in turning antiquated, inefficient home radiators into smart, environmentally and budget-friendly devices. Radfan produces a clip-on unit for radiators that distributes warmth (and savings) throughout a room, cutting owners’ heating bills. Barker helped turned the company’s cardboard prototype into an award-winning product within two years.
He will join BlueTipz founder Bob Baddeley and hardware entrepreneur Adam Ellsworth for the “Hardware Startup Engineering Summit Kick-off” session on April 1 (10:45 – 11:45AM at SJCC 210D). The trio will provide actionable advice and help attendees get their entrepreneurial juices flowing by sharing their experiences launching successful startups. They will also share their perspectives on launching a product with or without a successful crowd funding round, as well as strategies for tackling the European market.
You can purchase an EE Live! 2014 All Access pass or an Engineering Summits pass to attend the Hardware Startup Engineering Summit through the conference’s official site. Make sure to follow updates about EE Live!’s various programs, sessions, and announcements on the conference’s social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+.
